Heartland of America Park sits on the Missouri River near the downtowns of both Omaha and Council Bluffs. It contains the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, which is a scenic footbridge that spans the width of the river, connecting the two cities.
Two of the nation’s longest and most popular trails are easily accessible in Omaha: the American Discovery Trail, which stretches across the whole country, and the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail, which is about 3,700 miles long, running from Illinois to Oregon.

Schools, Health, Transportation
Public education in Omaha is provided primarily by Omaha Public Schools. It serves more than 47,750 students in more than 75 schools.
The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha oversees several private schools, educating about 21,500 students in 32 elementary schools and nine high schools.

The Union Pacific Railroad's corporate headquarters are in downtown Omaha. Amtrak passenger rail system provides service through the city, as does the Greyhound bus company.
